Snake Sexing
Knowing the sex of your snake can be important, particularly if you plan to breed, house compatible animals together or simply want to know more about your pet. At KBN Reptiles, we offer a professional snake sexing service using the probing method, one of the most accurate techniques for determining the sex of many snake species when performed correctly.
Snake probing should only be carried out by someone who has been properly trained, as incorrect technique can cause serious injury. Our experienced team use the correct equipment and handle every snake with care to ensure the procedure is carried out safely and with minimal stress.
We reserve the right to refuse to probe any snake if we believe doing so could compromise the animal's welfare or if we consider the snake to be too young or too small for the procedure. Very young or particularly small snakes may not be suitable for probing, and we may recommend waiting until they are older.
Whilst probing is highly accurate, sex cannot be guaranteed in every case due to natural anatomical variation.
Appointments are required and animals must be securely transported in a carrier.
Terms & Conditions
1. Appointments
Snake sexing is carried out by appointment only to ensure a trained member of the KBN Reptiles team is available.
2. Suitable Animals
Not all snakes are suitable for probing. Very young, small or stressed animals may not be suitable, and we reserve the right to postpone or refuse the procedure if we believe it is in the animal's best interests.
3. Animal Welfare
Your snake's welfare is our priority. If your snake becomes excessively stressed, defensive or difficult to handle, we reserve the right to stop the procedure at any time.
4. Accuracy
Snake probing is one of the most accurate methods of determining the sex of many snake species when performed correctly. However, due to natural anatomical variation, previous injury or the age of the animal, we cannot guarantee the sex in every case.
5. Owner Responsibility
Owners must inform us of any known health conditions, injuries or behavioural concerns that may affect the safe handling of their snake.
6. Liability
Whilst every reasonable care is taken during the procedure, snake probing carries a small inherent risk. KBN Reptiles cannot accept liability for unforeseen complications where the procedure has been carried out with appropriate care and skill.
7. Veterinary Care
Snake sexing is not a veterinary procedure. If we identify any health concerns during the appointment, we may recommend that you seek advice from a specialist reptile veterinarian.
